AND WHAT Process

Turning into a human paint brush, research into curls and a protest brand. Behind the scenes of AND WHAT.

After reaching this protest branding, I realised that it might be a good idea to instead of basing my brand on breaking stereotypes, just be a brand that does that. However I felt the protest imagery was strong, and decided I wanted to keep that, in both the illustrations and tone of voice.

I came to this illustration style after loving the experiments with making a paint brush out of human hair. After liking this male positive style, I experimented with colour to make it pop on a shelf, but found that the white packaging and strong curl-brushstroke branding made it naturally stand out. However, the product imagery did not stand out so I added a green screen inspired background that made the products pop. I did this as it not only aided branding but I liked the link to not knowing what is around the products, and showing off the traditionally hidden and edited.
